Post-Futurefest Fun

Posted: February 23, 2010 in Futuremaker

This semester seems to really be flying by; I cannot believe we’ve been in school over a month already.  Its seems like so much has happened in that short time, but it’s all a big blur.  The spring semester seems to always be much busier than fall and this year is no exception; I’m off to a running start.

Last week was Futurefest, the other half to our huge Community Open House, it is similar in almost every way accept there are not thousands of people seeking information.  It is an awesome event where you can come and ask questions, explore programs and even get to play around in the labs.  Personally I think I enjoyed Futurefest’s atmosphere just a little more than the big open house back in October.  I’m not fond of large crowds and really like how personal Futurefest was; our student ambassadors did an awesome job leading tours and sharing their FVTC experiences.

Next week I’ll be traveling to Madison to compete at the state DEX competition, the college division of DECA.  This is one of my favorite times of the year, although it’s crazy busy its so much fun.  If you’re not familiar with DEX.  its an association of marketing students who want to develop personally and professionally while building skill sets and strengthening their resume. Its an opportunity to get involved at school, and has allowed me to travel quite a bit.  Besides the trips to Madison every year, I got to go to Anaheim last April and Atlanta the year before, two of the best “vacations” I’ve ever been on!!  Its and awesome organization and if you’re a marketing student you should check it out. (Both the Appleton and Oshkosh Campus have chapters)

As for this week lets just say I’m trying to play catch-up and work ahead at the same time.  Hope you have a great rest of the week and enjoy Friday off!!

P.S. Don’t forget Ed Smart is going to be right here at FVTC tonight
